Junior School Council

Junior School Council

The Junior School Council allows students the opportunity to experience leadership at school. The Junior School Council consists of two students from each Year 4 to 6 grades and the School Captains. Each year in Term 1, Junior School Council Leaders are elected by their peers for a twelve month term in office.  Junior School Council Leaders, want to make a difference to our school and our community. They discuss many items raised by their peers as well as perform a range of fundraising and awareness for charities.

FREE DRESS DAY - 18TH OCTOBER, 2012

State Schools’ Relief long standing motto of “from children to children” reflects the tradition of students supporting their fellow, less fortunate students. On Thursday 18 October we are asking all students to donate a gold coin to help us continue to provide quality, clothing and footwear to Victorian kids in need.

A DAY TO SPARKLE  WELL DONE MSPS - WE RAISED $400.00

Junior School Council will be holding a fundraising day on Monday the 30th of July, to support the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital through the Tiana Reidy Foundation - in memory of Tiana who attended MSPS and would have been in Year 7 this year. In previous years MSPS has supported children with     cancer through CANTEEN. This year, some of our grade 6 students, (who were in composite grades with Tiana) wanted to support the Tiana Reidy Foundation. Students are asked to come dressed in PINK, PURPLE and/or SPARKLY clothes in exchange for a gold coin donation.

Winter Warmer 2012 Don’t leave any students out in the cold this winter

On Friday the 29th of June, students will be asked to participate in our ODD SOCKS fundraising event to support the State Schools’ Relief (SSR), Winter Warmer Appeal. It’s winter and now is when children who are experiencing extreme disadvantage and do not have adequate school uniform or shoes feel the cold the most. Since 1930, SSR have been supporting children and families who cannot access quality clothing and footwear due to circumstances like poverty, homelessness, family violence and natural disasters. Last financial year they assisted 84% of secondary schools and 40% of primary schools; resulting in 10,463 requests for assistance. SSR are a charity that exists to support government school students in need and rely solely on donations from schools, individuals and businesses. All students are asked to wear ODD SOCKS  and can choose to come in or out of uniform in exchange for a gold coin donation.  100% of donations will go directly to State Schools’ Relief.

WELL DONE EVERYONE - WE RAISED $400.00
